MEET OUR LEADERSHIP
General John M. Murray
Commanding General, Army Futures Command
Gen. John M. “Mike” Murray is the Commander, Army Futures Command. He is responsible for building a team to streamline the Army’s modernization enterprise under a single command. His command will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivering the technology necessary to maintain the Army’s competitive advantage.
Mike is from Kenton, Ohio, and was commissioned as an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army upon graduation from the Ohio State University in 1982. Prior to taking command at AFC, he integrated Army funding, fielding, and equipping actions to meet current and future military force requirements. He has a history of leading in Texas, having commanded a Brigade Combat Team during Operation Iraqi Freedom within one of the most decorated combat divisions of the U.S. Army, which happens to be from Fort Hood. As a commander, he has offered support for global efforts such as U.S. Forces Afghanistan and Seventh Army in Germany.
COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR MICHAEL A. CROSBY
COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR, ARMY FUTURES COMMAND
Command Sgt. Maj. Michael A. Crosby is the Command Sergeant Major, Army Futures Command. As such, he acts as the principal advisor to the commander and staff on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development, and the effective utilization of personnel assigned to the command.
Michael enlisted in the United States Army in August, 1988. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University and a Masters of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from Trident University. He attended the Army Strategic Leader Development Program-Intermediate Course, Executive Leaders Course, and Keystone Leaders Course. He has served in numerous leadership positions, to include serving right here in the heart of Texas.
Lieutenant General James M. Richardson
Deputy Commanding General, Army Futures Command
Lt. Gen. James M. Richardson is the Deputy Commander, Army Futures Command. He assists the commander with efforts to assess and integrate the future operational environment, emerging threats, and technologies to develop and deliver concepts, requirements, and future force designs to posture the Army for the future.
Jim is a native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and a 1982 graduate of the University of South Carolina. Throughout his career he has served in Army units in the United States, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Jim is a Master Army Aviator who has commanded soldiers in combat on six different occasions both in Afghanistan and Iraq, and has commanded at every level.
